The greatest biologist ever, Charles Darwin, studied doves and pigeon in both their naturally occurring forms and artificially bred forms, This helped him to devise his theory of evolution by means of natural selection. Pictured here are four species: a collared dove (naturally occurring), a fantail (artifically bred), a racing pigeon (artifically bred) and an African green tree pigeon (naturally occurring) arranged like angels rising out of a gold background.
