“Celandines down the lane” is a view of Pigeon House Lane, where we live, in Springtime. I love to walk the lane every day and watch as it changes through the seasons.

There are so many species of native wildflowers that grow here. Winter 2020/2021 was so prolonged and cold winter that everything is emerging much later this year. The coltsfoot is already over, but in early April, I spotted sweet violets, ground ivy, primroses, and glowing above everything are the shiny yellow faces of the celandines (Ficaria verna),  putting on such a lovely sunny show.
When we moved into this house in 2019, I had no idea that the lane itself would be such a source of inspiration for my painting!
