By early May as the cow parsley (Anthriscus sylvestrison) Pigeon House Lane, where I live, emerges in drifts on either side of the lane.

The oaks are now in full leaf and have enclosed the lane to form a deep shady tunnel, their branches reaching out to the trees on the other side.

In my painting ‘Cow parsley on Pigeon House Lane’ I have shown the lane as it reaches the top of the rise coming into Freeland in West Oxfordshire.

Painted during lockdown 2020, watching the arrival of spring on Pigeon House Lane has been a joy on my permitted daily exercise during the Covid-19 pandemic.
