This watercolour painting was a very special commission for Martin, a fisherman with a big birthday. He absolutely loves the river Kennet, a small tributary of the Thames which rises at Avebury, Wiltshire, and joins the Thames at Reading, Berkshire. It’s a remarkably beautiful waterway with long stretches still untamed and rich in wildlife.
The quote is from Blaise Pascal and reads: “Rivers carry us whither we desire to go”
