Here’s quite a ‘straight’ watercolour of a ‘straight’ view – something I rarely do as I’m so used to moving things about, adding bits here and there. It’s of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path as it heads west from the Parrog end of Newport, towards Cwm Yr Eglwys and Dinas Head.
This painting is composed using a single photo to start me off, after which I just let the brushes go their own way using my memory and imagination. The building pictured is Mariner’s Cottage.
I’m not a confident walker so I especially love the easy amble this part of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. But we never get very far because I have to keep stopping every few steps to look at everything!
This painting celebrates the incredible work of my hero, the scandalously unsung Alfred Russel Wallace. Wallace came up with the theory of natural selection independently of Darwin and established the study of biogeography.
This painting is no longer available, and is shown here for your viewing pleasure and for the glory of Wallace.
