About Riders on the storm
The title of this small, detailed original painting Riders on the storm comes from a song on the The Doors’ 1971 album L.A. Woman. It’s one of my favourite albums of all time.
My painting Riders on the storm shows whirling clouds and the sea whipped up into huge waves, capped with galloping white horses. In the surf, a striped dolphin rides the waves. Overhead, a black-browed albatross glides effortlessly on long, stiff wings. It’s a painting about turbulence, determination, endurance, and going with the flow.
You’ll no doubt recognise my overt stylistic reference to The Great Wave off Kanagawa – Katsushika Hokusai‘s 1831 masterpiece.
This painting will be displayed at my 2023 exhibition to which you are invited. Please note that if you wish to purchase the original painting it will only be available to you at the end of the exhibition.
