A portrait of an extraordinary blue-eyed leopardess called Rockfig, named after the tree under which she was born. Accompanied by a guide at Tanda Tula game reserve in South Africa in 2004, we tracked her for two days before finally meeting this beautiful cat. She lay down beside our truck for 20 minutes or so before disappearing back into the bush. What a cat!
I spotted a big brown hare in a field margin just outside our village. I'd gone out to admire the hawthorn blossom and cow parsley in the verges, but this lovely creature made my day!

Harper Lee's book, To Kill a Mockingbird is, I believe, one of the finest novels ever written. The person who commissioned this original painting thinks so too!
