From the end of May 2020, and as lockdown eased in June, I was able to take walks by the river. Old Father Thames and Mother Nature guided my painting.
For the first two months of lockdown I painted what I could see on my daily walks close to home; predominently the arrival of spring, but other things, too! As lockdown has eased, we drove the 3 miles to Farmoor to take walks by the Thames to watch the action down there.
Down by the riverside
With the trees in full leaf, and the riverside flowers blooming there was much to observe. The bright splashes of yellow of the irises, the white blooms of elder and angelica, and the reeds reaching skywards. Since my much-needed eye operation was cancelled in March, I have deliberately chosen subjects which are more forgiving and I can easily access – trees, rivers, foliage, flowers – which all allow me to apply paint freely and not worry about detail.
Digital files are available of all these paintings for you to make a one-off print in a size and format of your choice.
Here are my riverside paintings, made as lockdown eased in late May and June 2020. hope you enjoy them. |
