Collection: Printmaking

Printmaking is an artistic process use to create images by transferring impressions from one surface, such as lino or woodblock, to another, such as paper.

Don't confuse printmaking with printing. Printmaking is all done by hand.

Drypoint is my favourite technique. It's little like etching but without the use of metal plates or acid.

I draw the design on a sheet of perspex or polypropylene with a needle and print from this. Each impression is then hand tinted with watercolour. Each impression is a unique work of art, differing slightly from the other prints in the edition.

There's more about drypoint in this illustrated blog.
