A simple idea for a more peaceful world

What if, instead of starting wars, our politicians sat down together and put the kettle on?

Make Tea Not War is a quirky painting with a serious message at its heart. An elegant blue-and-white willow pattern teapot carries a simple message. And accompanied by a cheerful stack of mismatched teacups against a vibrant pink and turquoise background.

I'm fed up with politicians choosing conflict over conversation. It seems to me that the world could do with a little less hostility and a lot more listening. Sharing a pot of tea won't solve every problem, of course. But taking time to sit down, talk honestly and try to understand one another feels like a very good place to start.

Folk art with a message

Using bold colours, decorative patterns and a smidgeon of humour, my painting uses the humble teapot as an unlikely symbol for peace. The stacked cups in many colours suggest there's room for everyone at the table, while the words on the teapot say exactly what needs saying.

It's a piece of original art that invites perhaps a nod of agreement. And a gentle reminder that diplomacy, kindness and talking to one another are surely better than war.

Art for peace, conversation and tea lovers

Whether you're looking for something quirky for your kitchen wall, or a thoughtful gift for someone who is as fed up with wars as I am, Make Tea Not War brings both personality and purpose to your walls.

Hang it in the kitchen, breakfast room or anywhere a good cup of tea and a good conversation are welcome. After all, the world might not change over one pot of tea — but it's a start.

Make tea, start talking, and give peace a chance.
