A little rain, a lot of cats and dogs, and a playful twist on an everyday saying

Ever wondered what it would look like if it really did rain cats and dogs? My painting Raining Cats and Dogs brings this familiar expression to life. Here's a downpour (downpaw?) of cats and dogs falling through a stormy blue sky, paws in the air and tails flying in every direction.

My original painting is full of colourful characters, from ginger tabbies (like my own cat, Skipper) to spotty dogs. Each pet has its own personality. Some of them seem look rather surprised to find themselves caught up in the downpour!

Colour, movement and folk-art charm

Inspired by folk art, this artwork combines expressive shapes, lively patterns and a lovely mix of colours. The swirling blues and streaks of rain create a sense of movement. And the warm oranges, creamy whites and rich browns of the cats stand out against the stormy sky. 

Created using watercolour, crayons, inks and gouache, the painting brings together different textures and marks to give the cats and dogs individual character. This is art designed to make you smile.

This website only takes orders from UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

If you are not in these countries and you would like to make a purchase, please get in touch with me directly.

Posting your order

Typically, orders for physical products placed after 12pm on Friday, and on Saturday or Sunday will not be posted until Monday at the earliest. I use Royal Mail to dispatch your order.

If you have ordered multiple items, I will try to post everything together. Occasionally, this is not possible, in which case they will be dispatched in separate packages.

Digital files will typically be transferred to customers within 24 hours via email using WeTransfer, the file transfer website.
